ÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Íø responds to bomb threat

THE FOLLOWING IS A STATEMENT FROM ÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Íø CHIEF COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER SID SALTER:
ÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Íø received a bomb threat through the campus telephone operator late this afternoon. The call was transferred to the ÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Íø Police Department. The ÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Íø PD immediately began an orderly sweep of populated areas of the campus with both an explosive-detecting canine and ÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Íø PD officers, concentrating first on residence halls and the areas where Boys State and Cheerleader Camps guests are located. At this time, ÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Íø believes that our campus buildings have been inspected and are secured. We are working with our partners in the Boys State and Cheerleader Camp programs to ensure their safety and to coordinate the continuation of their use of our campus.
As a matter of policy, we take all such threats seriously and govern our response accordingly. The university will not release additional details, as this threat remains an ongoing investigation.
